Composting Friend of HH a Finalist for Environmental Innovation

Josh Nelson, a frequent contributor to Holistic Horse, recently shared news that his Agrilab Technologies, LLP, is a finalist in an unusual contest coordinated by the Unreasonable Institute. Agrilab Technologies was selected in late December as one of 50 Unreasonable Institute finalists. The first 25 businesses to raise $10,000 are the selected fellows who then receive the business mentoring, support and investment contacts to “give their ideas wings.”

Nature's Hidden Remedy: Lime Your Fields

Lime is one of man’s oldest and most vital chemicals. The ancient Romans used lime for building and road construction, uses that continue to the present day. From earliest times, lime has been made by heating limestone (calcium carbonate) to high temperatures. This process, known as calcining, results in quicklime, or calcium oxide. Hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide) is produced by reacting quicklime with sufficient water to form a dry, white powder.
